summer doings

Goodness gracious I have not forgotten about my blog but have been extremely busy now that I have started yet a second part time job on the weekends.  I'm getting adjusted into this new routine it's just taking me a little longer to, must be age :) I am working with children again but in a new environment and I am learning so much and I can say it's making me a little stronger. My want to give every child a little piece of hope no matter their situation is still in me. These kids are amazing! Also another thing that has been occupying my time as of recently is looking for an apt to finally move in with the boyfriend, (yay!) we are so excited we can hardly wait!! We didn't realize how picky we would both be when it came to choosing the best place for us, everything is starting to fall into place for us <3
Life is good and we have plenty of exciting things coming up!

I have a few exams coming up the following week and one tomorrow. Yikes!! Wish me luck! Although it shall be nice having one class out of the way for the rest of exam week :) Anyway, off to studying it is.

Oh my..

This week rolled around pretty fast for us at school. We were fortunate enough to have those of the community come help us include their activities into our lesson plans. The fire department came in Tuesday teaching us about fire safety and lessons on staying away from strangers. For the most part our students welcomed Sparky the dog with smiles, but we did have some especially in our class that were fearful and wanted nothing to do with it. Friday we also had someone come talk to the children about taking care of their teeth, they all loved that fun presentation with Kirby the chimp. It was the talk of the day when mom came to pick up the kids. Overall, the week went quite smoothly. I was so thankful that those in our community are so willing to participate in helping us educate the kids in fun ways.

On another note, life has been lovely these days. Enjoying spending time with my Charlie oh he's just so much fun to be around. At times I can't believe it's been almost 5 years. We decided to have a little break and drink some coffee at a local coffeeshop. What a wonderful way to spend the weekend, in the company of those you love.

Lessons Plans

Wow! Planning the last lessons for May and then we are off to summer session. How exciting! I am definitely looking forward to a new session with new smiling faces. Also we'll be getting back into training mode & learning new things. I really have gotten to enjoy our trainings meetings they are just so interesting and inspiring. I do feel everyday that I am in my classroom that I chose the perfect career. Plus we recently received some neat things we ordered for the classroom! So we will be rearranging and we'll actually have some time to develop centers for the children. Since at the beginning of our semester was delayed about three times due to construction and not being able to move in when expected. We kinda had to rush in and didn't get to plan as we would've liked. So exciting! We are receiving so many donated books as well I know the children will be grateful, they love library time. So many lovely things are in the works :)

Another Semester Coming to an End

So we are almost at the end of the semester both in school for me as for our little one's the semester is winding down. Our students will be graduating at the end of May while I should be done by first week of May. I'm excited for our students to get their first sense of accomplishment and success finishing pre-school! It's a really exciting time not only for us teachers but as well for the parents! They are already planning and helping us practice graduation songs and really getting the children to where we would like them to be with their education to be prepared for when they enter pre-k and kindergarten. I'm also excited to announce that I will hopefully be getting accepted into my Teacher Certification program this summer! I should know before Fall if I indeed do :) So as you may be able to tell I've got many plans ahead and hope and wish for the best. The word of the month is EXCITING. I will also be turning the BIG 25 in just about two weeks I cannot believe how fast time flies by when you're having fun! Both the boyfriend and I share the same birthday so it's always extra nice spending our birthday together! This picture is of two years ago when we took a trip down to San Antonio and visited the Tower of America for our birthday celebration. What a fun filled weekend we had. It'll be out fifth year spending this wonderful celebration together. Anyway it had been a while since I had posted and just thought I'd update a bit before exam week is here, ahhh!

Spring Break came & went

I haven't been able to post in a few days as I've got bronchitis from a few weeks ago when I had a cold. Today will be my third day on meds and I am praying that this cough and sneezing will be over soon. It's been a month with this horrible cough and yes you can say I'm a little stubborn I only went to the Dr when I got tired of hearing my bf complain about how I needed to see one asap. Of course Dr reprimanded me for not going in sooner as I had actually had this lingering cough for 3weeks.
On a happier note, teaching alone this Spring Break was quite an experience in itself challenging at times but lovely to be able to work with smaller group of kids. I loved how much hands on experiments we were able to do and how I was able to connect with children on a closer level. It gets a little hectic when you have 18-3yr olds to teach and help along the way in activities. Anyway I am thrilled to have found some awesome bloggers whom are teachers and have so many nifty crafts and ideas on their blog! I pretty much spend my whole morning looking through their ideas and planning to do some for our Easter potluck lunch at school! :)

Spring Break!

My days of spring break have been going by too fast, I love having this extra free time. I have gotten back into scrapbooking and card making. I've had time to work out, time to spend with family I don't get to see often, and enjoy the little things we often miss on our go-go days. I am so proud of myself I've kept up with the gym & they say the first week is the hardest to get into habit but it's been pretty motivating week for me. Work went lovely today, although I am a bit nervous about tomorrow I will have two volunteers in the classroom and my co teacher is out of town. It's always a little nerve wrecking when others come into the class. Some kids decide to act out while others are calm as ever, you just never know with children. I do love them all regardless, kind of cute seeing everyone with their own little personality at such a young age. On another note in about a week I will be attending the Juanes Concert which I am absolutely thrilled about it will be my second time seeing him in concert. I highly suggest listening to his music if you haven't already, I really enjoy it and can always count on it to make me smile. Anyway time for bed has arrived,
goodnight

Spring break & School

Yay!! Today was our third day going out and jogging and keeping up with our diet. Yep it's probably too soon to get excited but I am really giving this 100%. May I also mention that I purchased the Nike+ gadget which is pretty awesome. For those of you who may not be aware what this does is keep track of how many calories you burn and how many miles you run. It's a sensor that is placed in the sole of Nike shoes that syncs with the iPod. It keeps me pretty motivated, I find myself often trying to just outrun my boyfriend which is pretty hard to do. Any day that it happens I am just a happy camper.
Today work was a little different, I had just a little over 5 students which made things easier to manage especially with the fussy-ness that comes with saying goodbye to mom. Although I surprisingly got through our art and craft activities a lot faster which threw me off a bit. (It's pretty time consuming when you have 18 kids that all need help learning to use a gluestick and using scissors.) I was glad I had enough back up art activities they could work on to keep busy. Overall today was a learning experience I learned to be flexible and think on my feet. Tonight I will be organizing my lesson plans for next month which are due next week. There is a lot of preparation that goes into it and I have been feeling a little scattered at times.
I am looking for some good teacher websites for worksheets for preschoolers and if anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear them.

My lovely Job

I am an aspiring Elementary Education teacher and currently attending college pursuing my Bachelor's in Interdisciplinary Studies as well as my Teacher Certification. I am almost 25 and some days I cannot believe how fast time has gone by since graduating from high school. I've still got a lot more I'd like to accomplish before I settle down and nestle in with my long time boyfriend. I am currently a Co-Lead Teacher for a non profit organization in which we teach preschool aged children English as well as strengthening their Spanish skills. I absolutely love and appreciate my job. I have volunteered at many places before and this job to me has meant the world. I have the opportunity to impact young children's mind and help them reach their potential-to have them believe in themselves at an early age. This job I am truly thankful for, I continue to learn so much from the kids and the other teachers I have the pleasure to work with.
